Flag Beach (officially Playa de la Bandera) is rated in the top 5 kitesurf spots in Europe — and the top 1 for consistency. The trade winds (alisios) blow cross-on from the north 300+ days a year, force 4–6, with butter-flat water inside the reef and bigger swell outside.

Why it works for kiting

Sand-bottom shallow lagoon for the first 100m, ankle-deep at low tide. Deep water and small swell outside the reef for advanced jumping. Wide beach for safe launches. Active rescue boats during peak season. Kite schools clustered together so it's social.

Flag Beach Wind Sport Center (the original, German-Spanish), Aloha Surf School, Volcano Kite School. IKO-certified instructors, group lessons €120–150/day, private €200+. Storage, gear rental, and beach shuttle included in most packages.

Best season

May to September = strongest, most consistent winds (force 5–6 every afternoon). April and October still reliable but variable. Winter works on most days but you need a 4/3mm wetsuit and the wind direction can shift onshore.

Stay close to Flag Beach. Best zones: Dunas area (15 min walk), Apartments in the Bristol area (10 min), or directly in one of the kitesurf camps with on-site accommodation.
