You don't need a car in Corralejo town. You do need one if you want to surf, kite, explore El Cotillo, or see anything south of the airport. Here's how to rent without getting scammed by excess charges, fake damage claims, or fuel rip-offs.

Where to pick up

FUE airport has all the international companies plus the local heroes. Corralejo town office for skipping the airport queue if you don't need wheels for day one. Cicar (Canarian local) and PlusCar are the only two with truly no-hidden-fees policies — pick one of those if you can.

Real costs

Compact car: €25–35/day in winter, €35–55/day in July–August. Tank-to-tank fuel policy (avoid pre-paid fuel). Insurance: always buy excess waiver from the rental — sand and scratches will be found at return. €5–10/day extra is worth it.
