Christmas and New Year in Corralejo: What to Expect
Seasonal · 5 min read
Christmas in Corralejo
22°C on Christmas Day, fireworks over the harbor at midnight, churros at sunrise. A different kind of holiday.
Corralejo is Fuerteventura's busiest spot at Christmas — UK families fleeing the cold, Spanish vacationers, and a small dedicated digital-nomad crowd. Book early and you'll get a holiday that mixes warm weather, low-key Spanish traditions, and zero stress.
The holiday calendar
Dec 22: shops decorated, locals buying lottery (the famous El Gordo). Dec 24 (Nochebuena): main family dinner, restaurants close early. Dec 25: most things closed; book hotel restaurant in advance. Dec 31 (Nochevieja): harbor party, fireworks at midnight. Jan 5: Three Kings parade through the town.
Weather expected
Air 17–21°C daytime, 13–15°C at night. Sea 19°C. Sun 6–7 hours. Rain risk low. Wind moderate. A 4/3mm wetsuit for surf; t-shirt at noon, light jacket at night.
Booking tip
Christmas–New Year is peak peak — book 4+ months ahead. Prices are 60–100% higher than November. The cheaper alternative: arrive Jan 2 or Jan 7 (after Three Kings) when prices drop by half overnight.
What to do
Christmas Eve service at the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen. New Year's Eve gala dinner at most resorts. Beach walk on Jan 1 (it's a 'thing' here). Three Kings parade on Jan 5 with kids' candy from camels.
